Writing Resources: Writing a Series


Writing a book series can be an exciting challenge but it can also be a bit daunting.

Fortunately, many writers have gone before us and have wisdom to share.

As you’ve probably realized, there are good, bad, and mediocre ways to approach writing a series.

When done well it can be an extremely rewarding accomplishment that readers will love. It gives us as writers a chance to really dig deeper into characters, worlds, and themes that we may not otherwise be able to explore in the length of a traditional novel.

Yet writing a series raises certain challenges, such as needing to tie together multiple story lines and keeping things interesting and fresh in a setting readers have seen before.

We want our stories to be as strong as possible, so let’s dive in and learn together!
